with Maris Stella Alumni Association (MSAA) organized a lecture for PG English
students on English Language Teaching (ELT), 31stJuly, 2019. The resource person was Dr.Afeera Khanam, an alumna herself and she has been working as
an English Instructor at the University of Jeddah, Khulais, Saudi Arabia.

PG English Department in collaboration
with Maris Stella Alumni Association (MSAA) organized a lecture on Women’s Writings on 3rd
August, 2019. The Resource person was Dr.Afeera Khanam, an alumna herself and
has been working as an English Instructor at University of Jeddah, Khulais,
Saudi Arabia. She focused on Alice Walker’s Color
Purple and discussed several issues like gender discrimination, queer human
relationships, socio-cultural problems.

PG English Department in collaboration
with Maris Stella Alumni Association (MSAA) organized a special guest lecture
on the topic ‘Reading Skills’ by Ms. V. Vishnu Vandana Devi, Associate
Professor of English, Vijaya Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences for Women,
Vijayawada, on 29.08.19. Attended by the students of PG English and Economics,
the talk helped in understanding the importance of Reading Skills and focused
on how to become an effective reader.

with Maris Stella Alumni Association (MSAA) organized a special guest lecture
on “Common Gynaec Problems among the Young Women” for UG and PG students on
06.09.2019, Friday. The resource person was Dr. S. Sahithi, BAMS, MD,
Vedamantra Ayurveda Clinic, Vijayawada.

“Content Writing” by Vineela Vasan.

invited lecture on Teaching and Learning LSRW Skills by Dr. G. Chenna Reddy,
Associate Professor, Department of English, Acharya Nagarjuna University on
01.02.2020.
Faculty Achievements:

Dr. K.Sandhya presented her poem “Wonders
Vs Blunders,” published in the anthology “The Vase” (ISBN-13:9789389110999) at
Guntur International Poetry Festival on 18th &19th
September, 2019.

Dr. K. Sandhya was awarded ‘Master of
Creative Impulse,’Philosophique Poetica International Award in Literature by
’Philosophique Poetica & Grand Productions Canada- World Poetry Conference,
13& 14th October,2019 held in Bathinda, Punjab, India.

The following scholars were awarded
Doctoral degrees in 2019 under the guidance of Dr. K. Sandhya- Dr. Afeera
Khanam in August (ANU), Dr. Surekha Rani in October (ANU), Dr. Waheed Shafia in
November (JNTUH ) and Ms. G. Sundari (JNTUH, Ph.D submitted).
NET/SET/APRCET:

Ms. R. Kavya from the Department of PG
English qualified UGC- NET and APRCET in 2019.
Student Activities:
·
Eight students from PG I and II year
English adapted short stories from “Amaravathi through Ages” written by Sai
Papineni to the stage during the book launch at Café Coffe Day, Vijayawada on
24.09. 2019. Sri V. Veerabhadrudu, IAS, Director, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan was the
Chief Guest. He appreciated the students and had a literary interaction with
them.
Workshop:
The PG departments under
the able guidance of Dr. K. Sandhya, Director, PG & Research,
Maris Stella College,
organized a workshop on Employability & Entrepreneurship Skills on 24th
February 2020 in the
College Auditorium. A team of experts from the Business Industry, Mr.
Leeladhar Rao, Founder
and Director, Happy Minds Manpower Solutions Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Venkat
Ketiboina, CEO, Admission
Arrow, Mr. Chaitanya Potluri, Software Developer, Amazon, Seattle,
Mr. C. Krishna
Anjaneyulu, President, Andhra Pradesh Journalist Forums and Prof. V. Jagadish,
Head, EDC, PVP Siddhartha
Institute of Technology in their sessions stressed on the
importance of acquiring
employability and entrepreneurship skills in the present competitive
world and shared the
success stories of budding entrepreneurs and their real life experiences.
They have also provided
hands-on training to the students on Group Discussion and Interview
Skills. A total of 200
students and 25 faculty participated in the workshop. Students from Andhra Loyola College, KBN
College and Nova College also took part in the workshop.
